Top Cat,
The BrowseMaster program runs on your local machine. It is a mini web server that only accepts requests meant for it or for SI. Your password only gets passed along by that local program to SI, in the same manner that your browser passes along your password. If you are concerned about giving your password to the local BrowseMaster program, you should be equally concerned about entering your SI username and password into Microsoft's Internet Explorer or Netscape's Navigator.
