Uncle Frank,
What about Texas instruments as a potential Gorilla? In the last couple years TI has re-invented itself as a semiconductor company. They have sold off their data business, government systems business, and DRAM business to focus on DSPs. a The DSP market is probably in early tornado as they are showing up in everything from disk drives, to modems, to cell phones. Once a maufacturer selects a DSP vendor switching is expensive. 1998 DSP revenues grew at 29%.
Market cap is $36B.
