Half-baked can be good or bad... It really is a business decision not a technical question. Companies doing voice over ip will include companies with substantial investment in IP and some interest in voice. this will be a niche that needs filling. More robust solutions, such as voice/data over ATM, will appeal to companies seeking higher end voice/data solutions with less legacy IP solutions. Of course, the unknown that could tilt this simplistic view would be if voice really takes off and everyone needs the top shelf systems to compete in the market place. If that occurs, (which is my personal thought) then no one can afford to do anything but the top quality solutions. In fact, having the best will be so important that selecting anything less than the best will cause a company to lose money (ie. with slower transaction speeds, higher down times, less electronic commerce dollars attained per unit of time etc.). It is more likely that high speed communications will become as essential to profitable business as having a computer to log orders or a fed ex to send packages. Clearly it is hard to predict the future but it is my belief that we will see less stone and mortar busines and more ecommerece in the not too distant you know what....
