Microsoft's software problems with Win2000

"I was shocked at the number of people who told me I should go to a bug-triage meeting or sit in a build-lab for a day," Mr. Ballmer said. "We need to recommit to software engineering as a discipline."

--- Today's Wall Street Journal

You know what this means Jim? Microsoft is having the most serious possible problems getting Win2000 to work.

As someone somewhat experienced in software engineering, having designed and built a number of commercial products, I can tell you what Mr. Ballmer is saying.

They didn't build the software tools right. They jumped ahead to using them to build the product. And NOW NOTHING WORKS and no one can figure out why.

======================

Novell's software works from release zero. Since October of last year have you heard anything about Netware 5.0 having Problems? Would you trust your company's network to Microsoft or Novell?
