For an analyst recommending NN with a BUY, it's a bit surprising he doesn't understand their place in broadband wireless. Our little company with 6000 employees is right at the top with the likes of Nortel and Lucent. Reminds me of that song, "Nobody does it better. . ."
Today Bernard Herscovich, NN's VP Wireless Networks, participated in a panel with leaders from Bosch, Lucent, Alcatel, Nortel, Hughes, Netro and Ensemble Networks, and presented NN's wireless plan with a clarity the others lacked. Several times the Bosch representative declined to comment, including when asked about speeds and time to market. The Ensemble guy said his company would have 100 Mbps by July and Mr. Herscovich said they were offering today speeds just a notch below the July estimates and would be equal in that time frame.
It was generally agreed wireless would be targetted to businesses first and eventually compete with fiber. QoS issues were debated and most agreed differentiated services had to be offered, including telco-quality reliability.
I'll write more later. Leave it to say I was proud to be a NN shareholder today. Not only is the company in the fore-front of the industry, but Mr. Herscovich is knowledgeable, quick on his feet, and a class act in every way.
I'll report back from the RS conference later in the week.
