McMannis - Re: "Looks like The Pentium III is just MHz faster than the pentium II except on some SSE apps where it really does well. Duh. Also, the Pentium III will be buslocked as well.... anandtech.com The K6-3 does very well on NT Business apps. Faster than the Pentium III..."

That review ices it !

The K63 - which did good in only ONE Windows NT test - is clearly inferior to the Intel Pentium III.

And Anand used a 1 MegaByte L3 cache on the 400 MHz K63 system !

Note - I do believe the few benchmarks of 450 MHz K63's actually employed a 2 MegaByte L3 cache from Anand'd original K63 review last December.

I am forced to conclude that AMD chose to use their own K63/Pentium III "benchmarks" on their Web Site instead of Anand's - Anand's clearly show the excellent overall Pentium III performance and the STUNNING EFFECTS of the SSE (Katmai) instructions on PERFORMANCE !

If the trade press publicizes this suite of Benchmarks - as they did the intitial K63 Anand tests, AMD is going to suffer some deep embarrassments.

K63 - Requiem in Pace.

Pentium III - ONWARDS AND UPWARDS !!!
