When I was in high school, I worked myself into a case of bronchitis at a local campaign office for McGovern. I manned phones, went door to door, ran a table in a shopping center, the usual stuff. By '80, I supported Ronald Reagan. Many things happen in life that were not altogether expected. Even now, although I cut my hair and shaved my beard long ago, some of my acquaintances can hardly believe that I am a conservative, because of the absurd stereotype they have in their minds. As I noted on an earlier "rattle the liberal" post, I still listen to Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, and the Velvet Underground a lot, and I am a big fan of Pearl Jam, REM, and Nirvana as well... |
