No; it has been listed in HK for many, many decades, and now has a listing in London (HSBC)since the time it took over Midland Bank there.

It just reported its profit figures for the last 6 months, with a drop of 21% on provisioning (although a 6% gain on headline profit) as a result of the Asian crisis. However, it increased its dividend payout substantially, announced a 3/1 split, and a proposed listing on the NYSE
