Wi-LAN Inc. is a high-speed wireless data communications company listed on the ASE as of March 1998. The company began with a CDN $10.5 million IPO at a CDN $2.50 issue price. The stock trades under the symbol WIN.

Wi-LAN signed its first large deal in April 1998with a British national telephone company, Tele2 UK, a subsidiary of Millicom International . The value of the contract over 5 years, based on the terms and conditions of the contract is $75 millionUS-$150 million US.

On October 31, 1998 year end, Wi-LAN generated $5.7 million CDN in revenue and is projecting to have $15 million CDN in revenue for 1999.

Wi-LAN completed the development of its patented W-OFDM technology. This technology is the foundation for an IEEE international draft standard for high-speed wireless networking. This technology is expected to generate royalties for Wi-LAN.

In February 1999, Wi-LAN secured a $36 million US deal with a subsidiary of Sweden's national telephone company Telia and received a $550,000US purchase order with the deal.

William (Bill) Dunbar is the latest addition to the Wi-LAN team. He was president and CEO of WIC Connexus Inc and was also the President and CEO of NorthwestTel until 1994. Bill's expertise in working with start up communications companies will be a great asset on the company's Board of Directors.

He is presently working with BCE International leading a team in building a new competitive communications company in Brazil using wireless local loop products.

These are just some of the significant achievements that Wi-LAN has completed in less than one year of going public.
