What if, what if, what if?
Come on, noone has a crystal ball.
What big boys are you talking about? BRCM dominates the market for cable modem chips. That is vulnerable to the other chip makers, yes, but BRCM has solutions that go beyond the chip. For example, their technology for the ethernet switches will complement CSCO technology very well. CSCO has a stake in BRCM, and INTC has a stake in BRCM. That is powerful backing. I doubt that BRCM management would "sell out" as you propose with this type of support, and the kind of growth that BRCM enjoys at this time.
BTW, this is one "internet" play that is profitable, and beating estimates by a mile.
One does not fight the momentum. If the heat gets turned up onto BRCM by competition, then we will have to re-evaluate the investment. Right now, I am riding BRCM.
