The settlement pre-empted the Appeals Court decision, but legal commentators noted that under Supreme Court decisions that came out recently, it was pretty likely that Judge Wright would have been reversed. As far as the stuff on Monica goes, the information arising from the Independent Counsels investigation could easily have been taken as evidence that a quid pro quo existed with a woman who yeilded to Clinton's advances, which is all that was necessary to make it admissible as part of the pattern. As for the final disposition, I actually think it would have made it to a jury had it been re- instated. After that, I can't say.
