To keep it simple. If I put out a limit order, I (usually) see my fill printed on the tape and the execution time is close to the time I get the confirmation (for example at Datek).

I was just wondering how it is possible that if you covered at 9:30 in the morning, the print of your trade is posted after 16:00 in the afternoon.

And that was because I could not figure out why trades in the $6+ area are posted aftermarket - only possible if they have been "forgotten" and not post timely.... that smells.
