Dear Mark;

Many people simply do not read for themselves or accept what others say about the Word. Some are very invested in having their own views reinforced rather than following sound principles of hermeneutics in order to let the Bible speak for itself. In my opinion the idea of verbal plenary inspiration is very important. We need to determine what the original authors had in mind when they wrote and remember that every word was inspired by God himself. Some here wish to believe that only through special revelation can anyone understand the Bible. This is called gnosticism and is a serious error. The bottom line is that we should take nobody's ideas and accept them as fact, rather we must search the scripture ourselves and allow God to speak to us directly. As we continue our study we need to learn sound principles of interpretation which the church has accepted and agreed to for the most part. Many people simply appoint themselves experts with little formal training or concern for proper exegesis and hermeneutics.

The bottom line is that once you have read a portion of scripture, (perhaps the book of John :>), then perhaps you would have much more valuable input on the discussion.

In Yeshua's love for you - DLL
