Every time I hit a pothole, I curse Barry. But Williams looks like he can straighten things out. Annapolis vies with Newport (which I have visited a few times) as the sailing capital of the east coast. So far, its yacht race is not as important as the America's Cup. On the other hand, Walter Cronkite likes to hang out here, and even owns a sailing magazine. I am not a sailor, and usually only get invited on power boats. Jackie Kennedy used to stay in Middleburg when she got the urge to ride, I believe. I am not well acquainted with it. Annapolis is, indeed a beautiful town, and the area is in general a "garden spot". However, I love urban life, and being an hour away from the National Gallery, or the National Zoo, or even my favorite Lebanese restaurant, is getting to be a drag. Besides, Washington is in fact an incredibly beautiful city, especially down by the Potomac. I love two places most of all--- Washington, and Manhattan. |
