Minos,
Unfortunately, a sick joke. That is the problem with an anonymous board. I got this Email from Veridicom.
Subj: RE: VFS II

Dear Mr. Cohen,

The VFS II is available as a standalone peripheral or as a printed circuit
assembly (board). Several of our integration partners are embedding the VFS
II PCA or VFS I Plus PCA (USB) into keyboards for their OEM customers.
Eventually, in the final embodiment, the FPS100 fingerprint chip and the
supporting interface circuitry will be placed directly on the printed
circuit board in the keyboard.

Several well-known OEM keyboard suppliers are developing keyboards employing
our fingerprint scanner. These keyboard manufacturers are in the
development phase and showed prototypes at Comdex. These are customers such
as Cherry, API, BTC and Chicony.

Keyboards incorporating a parallel port scanner do use both the parallel
port and the keyboard port. USB keyboards with a USB scanner only use the
one USB port. Unfortunately, Windows NT does not support USB, so this
option is only available with Windows 98 systems. Veridicom will also offer
a scanner with a serial interface in the next few months, providing yet a
third option for keyboard manufacturers to consider.

Veridicom will not market keyboards with an integral scanner. Our partners,
the keyboard manufacturers, will be marketing these products to PC OEM and
through other channels. Therefore, I cannot comment on pricing for either
the keyboard or the bundled package.

Best Regards,
Steve Ruff

Dear Info.
I have a couple of questions about Veridicom's VFS II
Scanner.
1. Is it a seperate scanner or will it also be available in
a keyboard model.
2. Who is manufacturing the scanner/keyboard for you.
3. In a an article in PC News,
zdnet.com
They reviewed the available scanners/keyboads. They
indicated that one of the
disadvantages was that they plugged into both the parallel,
keyboard and mouse
ports. Does your product improve on this.
4. Most importantly, what will be the list price for the
item, with and
without software.
Thank you,
Sheldon Cohen
