pal....yes, OPM...better than free candy..

the only way i would and have gone long calls(leaps) is with OPM...with the thought in mind to execute the option...put cash in and applied to like kind long positions is a simple strategy to build a very large FOCUSED portfolio...i state focused because anymore than 4-5 issues and you should own mutual funds.

example..went long 10xintc jan 99 75 in 8/97...paid a 20.375 premium with the common @ 78.625....95 is my break even...paid for the position by earlier selling intc 00 100(lnlmt) puts with a 20.50 premium..called the stock away in jan 99, and added to my portfolio.the intc puts sold current bid @ 5.25...net profit to date +15.50...

went long dell common this month 1000x92.50 and 1000x82.50, paid for by selling jan 01 120 puts at 52...with cash left over..never have to wait for "the bottom" to go long...the option selling gives you a WIDE latitude, to find the "bottom"..

your portfolio is your inventory...down markets sell covered calls, up markets sell puts against cash, or add to your portfolio...trade the derivitives, never touch your core holdings...simple but effective!!

you got to believe...it does work and without effort and angst!!! ed a.
