Walt, those old properties are always interesting to follow
up on. There was an old Finnish Professor who wrote a paper
on small workings in Ontario just like you described. A lot
of these were small (or large) surface discoveries that were
worked out until they came to difficult terrain and they
simply moved on. Many of them stopped at the waters edge and
are worth following up on. Sometimes you come across these
old workings in the bush and see all the busted rocks and old
camp sites. These guys were not stupid and it's worth risking
the cost of a few claims.
