Tench,

Thanks for the numbers on 3d cards.

One thing that seems to becoming clear is that it is now a 2 horse race.

I imagine that the IDT/Rise/MII numbers to be just awfull as well as their lower clock speeds.

It would seem possible to me for both AMD and Intel to grow market share from Q4 98 as they pull away from the pack.

Should be interesting as I saw Atiq Raza on Fox Cavuto business report last night stating they have 50% of retail market now.

In Q2 99 even if AMD only sells only 1M k-3's at $200 average ASP's that should enable it to be quite profitable. Throw another 2M K6-2 400/450's into the mix at say $100 average ASP then it looks quite promising for AMD IMHO. Even 3M K6-2's with average ASP's of $45 and the blended ASP is still around $100 which is quite profitable.

Having reviewed the numbers, I doubt if AMD can sell many more than 1M k-3's in Q2 unless they want to bomb the prices into the $150 range. But the good news is they can do their own segmenting against the third tier guys who have no answer to 3dNow and have trouble getting to 350/366/380 Mhz.

Interested in what you all think.

Regards,

Kash
