Periphonics is New IVR Vendor for Amway's Automated Order Center
BOHEMIA, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 22, 1999--Amway Corporation, one of the world's largest direct selling companies, has replaced its Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system with a solution from Periphonics Corporation (NASDAQ: PERI - news), a worldwide provider of products and services for call processing solutions in Computer Telephony Integration and Telecom Enhanced Network Services.
Amway's objective was to improve services and lower costs by increasing access to the IVR system by its independent distributors to 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The directive was to give distributors another access method for order entry in addition to personal telephone contact with live agents, Web access, and modem access.
''Providing our distributors with as much convenience as practical has always been a major goal for Amway management and is the reason we offer them alternative means of placing their orders,'' says Judy Kadish, manager of call center technology. ''Based on our previous experience with Periphonics systems for other applications, we knew the Voice Processing Series (VPS) systems would operate well in our planned Computer Telephony Integration environment. That's why we selected a VPS system for the Amway Automated Order Center and replaced our old system with the Periphonics solution.''
User satisfaction surveys report the system to be a success. The response was very positive for the new IVR system and distributors are pleased with increased system access, as they can now place their orders at their convenience.
The Amway Automated Order Center includes multiple VPS units providing ports in Ada, Michigan and in Canada. The Canadian based VPS connects to the IBM host in Ada, Michigan via LAN/WAN access. The U.S.-based systems communicate with the host via directly connected SNA/SDLC host links.
