Those were the days when the
Dem party included real statesmen. Those days are long past.

Sadly, too true. The reason why I deserted the Democratic party about 20 years ago. Not that the Repubs haven't also lost many of their real statesmen. It's just that many of them still retain some modicum of principle, which the Dems have totally abdicated. That the party of Hubert Humphrey and Adlai Stevenson should have come down to Barney Frank and Bill Clinton. Pitiful.
