I have particular issue with this method of leading public gatherings. For some reason the reigning religious leaders seem to think that all denominations refers only to sects of christains and jews. There are also new-age, wickan, hindu, hari-krishna, and moonies which need accommodation. Not to mention atheists. Since the majority seem to think their god can read their thoughts or at least hear a whispered prayer, they should just go ahead and pray themselves. Why have a leader? They can silently pray all the way through the public event without someone needing to tell them when.
