DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 23, 1999--Joseph P. Nacchio has
been appointed to the position of Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
(CEO) of Qwest Communications International Inc. Mr. Nacchio
previously was President and CEO of the company.
     Qwest also created a new position of President and Chief
Operating Officer (COO), and the company has launched a management
search for an individual to fill that position. Mr. Nacchio will
continue to serve as President, as well as Chairman and CEO, until a
new President and COO is appointed.
     Philip F. Anschutz will continue to serve as Chairman of the
Board of Directors and will serve as Chairman of the Executive
Committee.
