I followed some thinly-traded corporate bonds listed on the NYSE and noticed that they sometimes traded with yields substantially above fair market value. I tried to place a buy limit order with a broker, but was told bonds don't trade on the NYSE. His trader confirmed this nonsense. I pointed out that the Wall Street Journal has a half-page of NYSE-listed bonds each day, but they couldn't be convinced otherwise. I placed the order with another broker, and was able to buy some bond bargains over the next few months.

On another occasion, I was interested in a stock listed on the Winnipeg, Canada Stock Exchange. A Canadian broker told me there was no such exchange. Thanks for the help.
