Sometime in the next few months is an SEC deadline imposed on regional banks for Y2K compliance. Having spoken to a programmer friend who works for a private concern which has a number of banking clients, I think it's highly likely that more than just a few will not make it. As I understand it, the rule entails immediate assumption of IT operations by a national financial insitution that has already proven compliance.

Can anyone verify this information? When is the deadline?
