A NICE HIT - IF I DO SAY SO MYSELF.................Last sunday
played Santa Anita at our local OTB....made only one bet (lost)
going into final race on card - 6 1/2 furlongs for maiden, claiming
(32K) fillies....best two Beyers in race were a 70 & 71...indicating
to me that a first timer had a shot (i.e., not much to beat). Of
those (two only) one - hadn't worked on 30 days, was not getting
lasix and was bet down to 9-2.........the other, DOME THRICE,
was getting "L", had worked steadily and as recently as the 14th....
so, I bet her win and place...Jose Valdivia (a jock I like) broke
her well from the 10 hole, but had her mid-pack, wide all down the
backside and wide into far turn where she started to close...kept
driving and got into a three horse photo....I thought she got second,
but Jose stayed right by her...time dragged...finally he jumped back
aboard as Trevor announced the result of the photo - Number 10
First - "Official".......the prices = win - $154.60, place $53.60, show
$18.20, ex. - $ 700.80, quin. - $ 651.00, tri. -= $ 3,616.30, the
$!.00 superfecta - (a new SA record) - $187,651.70....................
Oh yes, that of course killed the pic-six...huge carryover for Wed.
