If AOL gets govt-ruled open access to cable (unlikely), then AOL would bid to each cableco to become their portal. With AOL's customer base, I assume the cablecos would welcome AOL as their portal. If the govt does not open the lines, then AOL's strategy, I assume, would be to push DSL as far as it can, while trying to compete with T/TCI/ATHM with a Time Warner/RoadRunner cable deal.
