Michelle you appear to be proud, rightfully so, of your contributions in your field of endeavor.(Computer software, if I'm not mistaken) You appear frustrated however that your contributions have not been acknowledged and that you perhaps are still not receiving your due as an equal (or superior) in the workplace.

I think it is a mistake for you to assume that this lack of respect is because you are a woman. A cold hard fact that I believe was overlooked as women have assumed their "rightful" place in the workplace is that once you acheived a level of parity that you would be treated just as men are, unrespected and unappreciated except for what respect and appreciation you take for yourself. The truth is that if you are feeling underappreciated, it means you have acheived true equality in the work place. Men have long known that it is dog eat dog in almost every field of endeavor and that you have to fight for any sort of recognition, deserved or not. Some of the most successful men learned long ago to achieve recognition in the workplace, even though it was achieved by the sweat and brains of others.

One of the true indicators that women are achieving parity in the work place is that the average life span for men and women in the U.S. has been slowly approaching the same age, with the men's average life span increasing while women's has decreased. Welcome to the workplace.
