"Meanwhile, reading your 'column' innocent bystanders could think that GSM is winning and gaining ground on CDMA."

I'm tempted to use that Sherlock phrase again, Maurice. Don't push me. There are four new GSM licenses in Eastern Europe this year alone. The mobile phone growth in Eastern Europe was 125% last year - higher than in Latin America. And countries like Poland and Czech Republic actually are *growing*. Unlike Korea, Brazil Russia and other key CDMA targets. Arab countries are continuing a GSM build-up.

Meanwhile, innocent bystanders who read my China piece last year will not be surprised by the WSJ article. Anyone with open eyes could see where China was heading six months ago. There will be 50 million mobile subs in China next year. The current projections assume that CDMA takes a chunk of them - these projections will now have to be revised.

What I said about China last year is here:

Why don't you compare that to the comments made by Irwin Jacobs and George Gilder about CDMA's glowing future in China. Then tell me who is most likely to hurt innocent bystanders.
