Bluefly Rises After Company Says It Will Sell Over Infoseek

New York, Feb. 24 (Bloomberg) -- Shares of Bluefly Inc., a
start-up Internet discount-clothing retailer, rose as much as
55 percent after it said it will be featured on No. 4 Internet
search directory Infoseek Corp.'s Web site.
Bluefly shares rose 4 5/8 to 14 7/8 after touching a high of
15 7/8. Terms of the agreement weren't disclosed. Typically,
vendors such as Bluefly will pay a fee and a portion of sales to
be featured on a top Web site.
Bluefly said its clothing and accessories will be featured
on Infoseek's Go Network, a joint venture between Infoseek and
Walt Disney Co., the world's second-largest entertainment
company. New York-based Bluefly has unveiled several other
marketing agreements with high-profile Internet companies,
including No. 1 Web directory Yahoo! Inc. and top online service
America Online Inc.
''We have been able to negotiate very competitive rates for
many of these deals,'' Jonathan Morris, executive vice
president of Bluefly, said in a statement. He didn't elaborate.
Bluefly's shares have almost tripled since the company
changed its name from Pivot Rules Inc. in October and became an
Internet clothing retailer. The company previously sold golf
apparel.
