Siebel Dramatically Extends Web-based Business Model and Unveils Two New Products - Siebel Sales and Sales.com
CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 24, 1999-- Siebel Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: SEBL - news) today launched ''Siebel Everywhere,'' a strategic initiative to aggressively extend the company's Web-based business model and product line. Siebel today introduced two new products -- Siebel Sales, a single-user version of its market-leading software, and Sales.com, the first comprehensive destination Web site for sales professionals. Siebel Sales is available today, completely free of charge, and Sales.com is available immediately to Siebel customers and will be generally available before the end of Q199.
''Web-based software companies follow a clear business model and their software shares four key characteristics -- it runs in a browser, runs without any software on the client, is available globally 24-by-7 over the Internet, and is completely free,'' said Thomas M. Siebel, chairman and chief executive officer, Siebel Systems, Inc. ''Like other leading Web-based software companies -- including Amazon.com, America Online and Yahoo! -- our software runs in a browser, without any software on the client, and today we are making it available 24-by-7 over the Internet completely free of charge.''
