Greenspan didn't do any damage. I was trying to listen to all of his speech but it got too drawn out at times and I was finding myself at a loss sometimes of what he was really saying. I got most of it but when he talked about spending for defense, he lost me a bit. You can't diversify all over the world and then not increase the defense spending. If he feels that we should stay at home more, then I guess his talk makes sense.

Now I liked his talk on tax cuts, especially capital gains and marginal tax rate cuts. He is probably right to agree with the notion to let the surplus sit for a while but if you have to touch it at all, use it for tax cuts. I liked that part a lot. We all know what can happen if the money just sits there. Too many spending hawks who don't believe in returning some of the money to people who pay the taxes or to people who invest so that our economy can prosper. When the economy prospers, everybody benefits.
