Welcome back to the board Vi. I haven't seen you post in a while. You started this board, I was wondering what your thoughts now on what could happen to Russian stocks. Could we see a market cap near GDP level in a few years?
From what I have been reading the Russian economy has bottomed. This could be the beginning of a very long growth spurt. Russia had managed 0.8% growth in 1998, but fell back to a 4.6% decline in 1998 thanks to low oil prices and the crisis. Some predictions are saying there will be a modest decline in 1999 (2%) or even a breakeven year (because year over year comparisons get easy later in the year). That means monthly year over year numbers will turn positive as early as maybe May of this year.
