Fact. PP-D is freezing VSE, as per the conference call two weeks ago.
Their focus will be distributed computing and objects, which they consider their core competency. As a former user of Digitalk Smalltalk, its sad to see this happen. IMO parcplace really bungled the whole digitalk buyout affair.

That said, at this point I'm not sure they have much choice than to refocus on Java, distributed computing, etc.

Some rumors on their CIS forum that perhaps VSE will be sold off to
a third party. Just a rumor...
