B: SHOWSTAR ENTERTAINMENT CORP - To Produce Tour For Legendary Comedy Team Of
The Firesign Theatre

-- Showstar Entertainment Corporation is producing 12 concert dates for
the legendary comedy team of The Firesign Theatre. The first leg of
the tour begins April 2 in Santa Barbara and concludes in Seattle May
2, with stops in Berkley, California and Portland, Oregon.
The tour features the four original Firesign Theatre members - Peter
Bergman, Phil Proctor, David Ossman and Phil Austin - who are portrayed
by some as America's Monty Python. Throughout their 30-year career,
they have produced 22 albums that have sold more than four million
copies. In 1997 they were cited by Entertainment Weekly as one of the
"Thirty Greatest Comedy Acts of All Time."
"We been working with Firesign since their reunion tour in 1994-95,"
said Dan Fiala, president of Showstar's Entertainment Division. "They
had a successful run then and we wanted to take them back to cities
where they did so well four years ago. As producer, Showstar is
responsible for all aspects of the live performances, including
ticketing, advertising, promotion and producing the shows themselves."
The 12 Firesign Theatre shows mark the launch of Showstar
Entertainment's 1999 tour calendar, which will be announced as new
performers and dates are confirmed. Showstar is also in the process
of
scheduling an east coast swing for the legendary comedy troupe later
this year.
The comedy team's new CD Give Me Immortality Or Give Me Death is up
for a Grammy Award tonight, nominated for best comedy recording of the
year. The new CD finds the Firesign members on the fictional radio
station RadioNow on December 31, 1999, a station that is so up to date
it changes format every few minutes. The team walks listeners through
the station's final broadcast of the millennium, offering everything
from apocalyptic traffic reports to late-night conspiratorial
crosstalk.
