I've always wondered what a stealth campaign looked like.
The last one in our area was for school board. The Religous Right candidates selected people to run. They were pretty well financed. They ran on a platform of better education for our students, the usual kind of school board campaign. Most ads just had a picture and Vote for so-and-so with no positions. In the mean time they passed out literature at the most fundamental of churches with their real positions. The congregation were given orders from the pulpit to show up and vote for these people. After the election they fired the school board staff, replaced them with cronies, banned books they had never read, and generally tried to destroy the school system so they could complain about it's quality and call for vouchers. It's taken several years to repair the damage.
