Freeus, if you don't understand volatility I think you should hold off on trading options until you do. Put very simply, volatility is the propensity for a stock price to change. Since I know some of the stocks you follow I will put volatility in terms of those stocks. Dell is a volatile stock. AOL is a very volatile stock. T is not a volatile stock. All other things being equal, the more volatile the stock, the more the option is worth. You can calculate the implied volatility using the options calculator at cboe.com TTFN CTC
