Sorry, but I don't see you making/proving your point in that post.

I'd suggest that you are a bit misinformed. At the very least you'll find many PR listing the names of their major competitors.

I probably haven't read as many PR's as you have, but why would it be considered "smart" to mention the competition? My "instinct" tells me different.

As you mentioned, Fingerhut's PR mentioned Dell - with DELL mentioned but not even being material to the PR'd company. Except that some of the people were previously involved with DELL. - but the mention was not done because Dell is "competion." Also, Fingerhut isn't a competitor, as a seller of products & services, of Dell's, which sells computers. They're in different markets.

Why do you consider this as an example of your point?

This is not meant as a flame, just genuinely curious - Have you had a lot of experience in writing PR's?
