Darrell and all IOM Longs... I called investor relations this morning and tried to talk with Tyler Thatcher, but he was heavily involved with meetings today and tomorrow so could not be contacted. I did speak with one his staff but she could not reveal anything of note. Only that the voting proxies and notices of the Annual Shareholders Meeting were about to be mailed and that the meeting would be held at the downtown Marriott Hotel in Salt Lake City on April 20th. I asked if Iomega was going to offer tours of their new building and facilities at Roy during the event but as far as she knew nothing was planned and the new building is still being worked on. In that nearly all manufacturing is now overseas there would be little to see there anyway... only administrative headquarters, (secret R & D labs "added by me") and of course the "Great Lobster Dinner Room" which is still only spoken of in hushed tones. I told her that this didn't sound like a very Investor Friendly program and failed to get any response. I did ask specifically if any announcements were scheduled over the next few weeks and again got the standard answer that the company doesn't discuss this sort of thing. We will just have to wait until any news releases are made through their PR channels. I also asked if she could provide me any information on the NEC USB Clik! drive that was mentioned at the Comdex last fall... again... the pat answer. I would have preferred to talk with Tyler as at least he has a sense of humor even if he would have to toe the line about any forthcoming news or announcements. Anyway, you now know that you had better get in those reservations for staying at the Marriott this coming April 20th. Still might be interesting to attend as we are not that far from SLC here in northern AZ. I have never attended such and event so I still may give it some consideration.

I still have hopes that Iomega will have some interesting news announcements over the next 4 to 6 weeks. Possibly regarding a USB version the Zip 250 or an update on the NEC USB Clik!drive. Not sure what is going on the MP-3 music front, but would expect to hear something on this by the shareholder meeting.

If there are continuing component shortages for both the Clik! and Zip 250 then I can understand why they are not pushing these via press releases and advertising at this point. Just want to hear that these problems are being solved. I wonder which products will be produced at the Roy manufacturing building? Clik!? Jaz? Zip? or maybe all of the above...

The ZD article showing Zip 100s in six of the seven 500 Mhz Pentium III boxes was heartening and was a welcome sign of things to come. At least there was not ONE Super Disk included in any of these offerings! Even if Imation is giving these things away, the big companies are not going to chance putting these sluggish removables in their flagship speed demons.

Not happy with todays action, but what the heck its not like we haven't seen days and weeks like this before. Still hangin in for the long haul... Mel
