It is a simple matter to offer it and it gets the customers and media off their back.

I agree that most OEMS will just go with the ID standard parts but at least the customer is given a choice-and that is what it's all about.

In the worst case they can simply offer to replace CPU's for concerned customers. I doubt if more than a handfull of customers would care, but it would get rid of the PR problems.

I know Paul's view was that any press is good in the long term but I really think that they need to show some sensitivity to the issue. If they don't it will snowball on them IMHO.
