Nice to see Mr. White again, eh? I have a story to tell you.
I was just talking to somebody in Denver. That's not the story, that's what reminded me of it.
Anyone who has ever flown out of Denver, especially when the sun is going down, dreads it. It is not fun. The air is going every which-a-way and I don't like it.
But, one time, around 5 years ago, I happened to be flying out of Denver right when the sun went down. I was dreading it. I was on the right side of the plane. The plane went south, right along the Rockies, way up high. Just south of Denver, there was a gigantic thunderstorm. That's another thing about Colorado, the storms can be intense.
Anyway, there was this really huge thunderstorm. The clouds, which we were above, were about 10,000 feet high. Really huge. And lightning was going off inside the clouds. Big bolts of lightning, really spectacular. It was dark underneath the clouds, sun going down, and the sunset was hitting the tops of the clouds at the same time, yellow and orange on the top, lightning going off in the middle, dark underneath.
I know it's hard to imagine, but this storm went for about 100 miles, all the way south of Colorado Springs, and I sat there and watched this astounding display of sunset, clouds, and lightning, for about 15 minutes. It was the most amazing thing, the most awe inspiring display of natural phenomena that I have ever seen.
You would have liked it a lot, and you could have written about it much better than I just did. But I hope you got the concept. |
