A few of you have posted about not being able to set up demos of the VPC. We already had SGI bring buy a VPC for general demos. A local re-seller is bringing one out on Friday so we can sit down and play with it in a more private session. I'll post my experiences after I see it in action. And I'll ask about any PCI bus problems. I decided the Xeons were just not powerful enough and linux would not be along soon enough so today I ordered an Octane with the new 300 Mhz R12000 with 2 MB of CPU cache. I put 1.5 Gigabytes of memory in it and twin 9 GB 10,000 RPM SCSI drives. Passed up a flat panel for the Sony 24 inch monitor. Sorry to see it has lower ratings than the HP does though. But we have too much invested in SGI software to switch platforms.
