Jeff...

...a few things piss you off, then you realize that there aren't a whole lot of places where your investment dollars have the upside vs downside potential of TDFX..

The scary thing is, I'm not upset at all. I've been expecting Rampage to be the end-all be-all. Jeff, tell me this:

What would you do if Rampage was just a faster Voodoo3 with 32-bit rendering and no sign of a new market (set-top/laptop) in sight?

3dfx needs to prove to me that they haven't been pissing away R&D money for over a year. As a reasonable investor I don't think that's to much to ask.

When they mismanaged the Diamond thing I was pissed off. When they came out late with Banshee I was pissed off. When Voodoo3 didn't have 32-bit external rendering I was pissed off. The fact that 3dfx doesn't say jack about their roadmap pisses me off. The investment in Quantum3d pisses me off (did somebody do a risk/reward analysis or does Gordon just hold all the friggin' cards?)

At this point I'm not pissed off any more, I'm resigned. Either they have the goods or they don't. I'm not even sure those leaked Rampage specs are good enough for me at this point. I want to ensure that there will be no more dissapointments. I see AMD shareholders wonder why AMD is late at realease or doesn't have the goods. The answer is simple...track record. If 3dfx is constantly pimping the same old garbage there is no reason to expect any large turnaround in gameplan...rumors be damned.

It's time to show me the money.

Pat
