JDN, Laser light in the eye does sound a bit scary, and I've met that as a first reaction with many people. However, in this process of learning about both the technology and VRD, I'd like to believe that the simplest answer would be to turn the question around: You're obviously not blind (difficult to use the internet otherwise...). That means you are exposed to beams directly on to your retina every time you open your eyes. TVs, the sun, snow(?), beaches, your computer screen as you are reading this, a lovely pair of bouncing b... (ooops! Sorry! Got a bit out of hand, that one). To conclude: I'm confident we'll be on safe ground when we gather round the demonstration area on a forthcoming shareholders meeting in Seattle.
Good Soldier: LCDs and glasses: I have the impression that current LCD screens embedded in glasses are of both kinds: The ones that black out everything else (type VR goggles) and those of the sort that only uses a part of the visual scope when looking through, i.e. giving a superimposed view.
