Trufflete- If Merrill Lynch had shown an extroadinary competence in calling Dell (and the PC sector) in the past, then it would be newsworthy...Given their track record, and the fact that their call is one week after earnings, it looks like it is only piling on..
Another example: Kumar has made some good calls, and if you are a regular reader of the trend, you would know that I have supported him much more than criticized him...however, when he comes out and says things like "Dell lost market share from 9.3 to 8.4 in Q3-Q4" (in support to his call that growth is slowing)...when he knows darn well that marketshare was lost because of seasonality factors (which will reverse in the next quarter in a big way....)...that stinks a little...also, when he says that Dell is growing at 30% (when the actual figure is 38%...and that is only revenue (not earnings, EPS)...when, that "slanting" of data is unnecessary, and, yes, deceptive..Kumar is a good analyst that he doesn't need to do such things to present his arguments, and neither do some of the bears that come on the thread... |
