MKC: Well said.
I stopped one time at a tiny run-down restaurant in the middle of the desert, somewhere in Arizona as I recall. As is my custom, I struck up a conversation with a fellow diner, who happened to live in the area. Temperature,...103,....sun,....blazing down like the back end of an F16. Scene outside,....a thousand square miles of sand, rocks, and the occasional scrubby bush. I asked him how long he had lived there,....."All my life". Being polite, I then enquired as to whether it was by choice or as a result of circumstances. It was of course by choice. He waved his arm around, big grin and said,..."Have you ever seen anything as beautiful?" He wasn't joking, he truly meant it. Made me feel good somehow.
