** To Thread **

I wish there was more traffic on this thread. People who bid
on Internet auctions and get taken suddenly find themselves
very lonely. We know that, for example, eBay does not
intervene in transactions as long as the bids are valid and
the merchandise/payment transaction occurs.

There is no way for an aggrieved buyer to get recompense for
DOA stuff that I know off, except to beg the seller to make
good on the transaction. Most of the eBay transactions are
too small to be worth all the effort and expense of any legal
action. So, what to do?

If one puts a negative comment on eBay about the seller the
seller will retaliate with a negative comment about the
buyer. The buyer will lose this game as he/she is not as
frequent a user as some of the big sellers so a negative
comment, fair or not, can have a big impact.

I received a non-working CD player from a certain pair of
people in Colorado who sell a lot of stuff on eBay. It is
obvious that the CD player's tray is jammed and that the
item should have been discarded as non-repairable. It should
not have been put up for sale. But, it was sold to me as
"The case does have a few small scratches, although the
unit works great," which is not true.

Does anyone have a suggestion on what I should do, other
than beg the seller to make recompense. What happens if
I he decides to stonewall me on this?

FWIW, I have found several others such as me who are
anxious to find a way to punish this type of deceit.
