Gregory, I don't know. But what we are seeing right now is the perfect illustration of what I have been talking about for some time. Stock prices do not exist in a vacuum. As long term bond yields move up stock prices move down. In other words, P/Es are sensitive to interest rates, and that's why I have taken issue with those who like to benchmark stock prices based on historic P/E ratios. The other point that this illustrates is that it is not the Fed that determines these long term interest rates -- it is the over all market.

Another point that should be raised now is the wisdom of using leverage. For those who are "action junkies" the market may be irresistibly attractive, but using massive of leverage in unhedged positions is madness -- no different than gambling.

I still believe that investing involves the commitment to let your money ride on a growing business. It is not seeking the undervalued -- that's really just a form of arbitrage, nor is it trading. And to be a successful investor you must learn to develop a long term visions. You need a vision that extends beyond the next earnings report and reaches out five or more years.

I believe that investing is like buying a business yourself. And if many of us could develop that mindset we would be unconcerned with the daily market movements and would ignore the microanalysis of tick by tick trading.

So let me ask the thread: where do we see Dell 5 years from now. Where do we see the company ten years from now?
