I do not think QCOM belongs in the G&K index. It certainly is not a Gorilla and its status as a King will require substantial debate from the Group before admittance (IMHO). No offense, LindyBill, I just need some convincing!
Uncle Frank, with regards to your earlier post discussing the future of this thread and your concerns about a potential drop off from the faithful like myself -- I think you should worry little. Consistent with the overall market, we are entering a quiet period for most companies as we head towards Q2 earnings season. As we get closer to earnings, activity here as well as on the other Boards will increase substantially. For now, we need to fine tune our understanding of the current G&K portfolio businesses as I for one admit, I still have a lot to learn about these companies and the subtleties of their industries.
So please, help me and the rest of this group focus our discussions on moving up that learning curve so that when we talk about the MSFTs, EMCs, INTCs, and AOLs of the world, we know we are going where few dare to venture.
As for your potential new job, I wish you all the luck in the world. At the end of the day, one of us will pick up whatever responsibilities (re: this thread) you need to give up to pursue your new endeavor.
