MySoftware Company(TM) Adds Strategic Talent to Board of Directors

Emerick Woods and Grant Inman Replace Retiring Co-Founder and Director James Willenborg

February 25, 1999 04:05 PM
PALO ALTO, Calif., Feb. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- MySoftware Company MYSW today announced that venture capitalist Grant Inman and Vicinity president and CEO Emerick Woods have joined the MySoftware Board of Directors. The new additions replace retiring director and MySoftware co-founder James Willenborg.
Grant Inman, a prominent venture capitalist in the Silicon Valley, currently heads Inman Investment Management and is a co-founder of venture capital firm Inman & Bowman. Previously, Mr. Inman was a partner at Hambrecht & Quist, WestVen Management and Becker Technological Associates. He serves as a director for Lam Research Corporation and Paychex, Inc., as well as several privately held companies. Mr. Inman holds a M.B.A. from University of California, Berkeley, and a B.A. from University of Oregon; he is a Foundation Trustee for both universities.

Emerick Woods is president and CEO of Vicinity Corporation, a leader in Internet mapping services, and has also managed and founded several high technology startups. His extensive executive management background includes high-level positions with TuneUp.com, Quarterdeck, Symantec, Central Point and Microcom. The new Board members replace James Willenborg, who is retiring after serving on the Board of Directors since co-founding MySoftware Company in 1986. He acted as Chief Executive Officer from March 1997 until recruiting Gregory Slayton to the position in December 1997.

Mr. Willenborg commented on his departure and successors: "I leave the Board when MySoftware is in very good competitive shape. Gregory has done an excellent job reducing expenses, increasing motivation, and successfully repositioning the Company. It's time that the Board undergoes a corresponding transition by adding new talents and a fresh perspective."

"Jim's original vision of serving the technological needs of the small business market is not lost with his exit, but is rejuvenated by the fresh talent we've been able to bring to the Company," said President and CEO Gregory Slayton. "Emerick brings a great deal of relevant Internet experience and Grant's experience in helping companies like Paychex grow quickly and profitably will be invaluable. I am confident that Emerick and Grant will provide innovative new ideas as we continue to compete in the Internet services market, we are pleased to have such intellectual firepower joining our Board of Directors."
