on a slightly different tack: I read one of the reasons Intel put an 'I.D.' in the new Pentium III processor was for security. Once you report your PC stolen, they can track it IF somebody gets on the web with it. You can also give or take away rights to (your) systems depending on who you want to have access to it, and certain companies already are planning on doing this, such as Airline reservation systems, etc. who don't really know exactly who is charging the cost of the ticket....
